But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witness unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8).
The word power, literally means possession of controlling influence, superiority or authority. However, the word ‘power’ in our main verse has a deeper meaning, as it is derived from Greek word, “dunamis”, which means divine energy, might, strength for wonderful works, efficiency, or miracle-working ability. It means inherent power, or the dynamic ability to cause changes. This power is what you received when the Holy Spirit came to live in you.
Being enlightened to this power is very important for you to be able to live with this power in your life. This is not a psychological thing. The way you have natural senses, you have spiritual senses also. As you grow in Christ, you get awakened to your spiritual senses. The power of God is spiritual power, it is not a physical thing that can be accommodated somewhere inside your body. Your spirit, lives inside your body, and the power of God works right inside your spirit.
Remember, everything physical is subject to the spiritual realm, which means this power which works in you is capable of bringing even physical changes. Thus, all your circumstances are temporary, and they are subject to your spiritual authority.
If you don’t get enlightened to dunamis, you will always keep crying for help from God. Though, there is nothing wrong in asking for help from God, but, as a child of God, as you grow you should stop asking help from God. Rather, you should get conscious, and become active in living a powerful life, as a spiritual giant. For example, when a child gets old, he is expected to drink water by himself. A 16-year-old boy would be considered lazy, if he always asked his father to bring him a glass of water. Similarly, during your early days of faith. You might have experienced, that when you began your journey of faith, you asked something from God, and He did it for you; but as you grew in faith, those baby favors disappeared. This is the time He expects you to know His word, and use the power(dunamis), that He has deposited in you.
Get awakened to the reality of the power in you, the dunamis in you, and there will be no stopping for you in your life. God will use you as a mighty instrument to bring about changes in the world.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for empowering me with supernatural ability to do the impossible, and also to effect changes. I’m enlightened to the dunamis in me, through spiritual exercises. I take full advantage of my authority in Christ and declare peace, prosperity, progress, and increase for me, my loved ones, and my country, today, in Jesus Name. Amen.
