And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves. (1 Thessalonians 5:13)
Your Pastor is a gift that God has given to you (Ephesians 4:8). The Pastor over you, wasn’t a choice you made but a choice God made for you, and God is wise (Jeremiah 3:15). Thus, God expects you honor those whom He has placed over you, to guide you, to make you stand worthy of Him on that day. Our main verse admonishes, of the same. Notice, it doesn’t just say that you should, “esteem” them, or “highly esteem” them but it says, that you should, “esteem them very highly”! So, God was specific about what manner of honor, He expects us to give to our pastors.
Your Pastor is anointed of God’s Spirit to bring blessings to your life, thus relating with him with Godly reverence is expedient for you. When you honor your Pastor you automatically attract God’s honor. As a matter of fact, God takes you from where you are to where you ought to be.
However, men of the senses don’t understand this, they will only be judgmental because they are ruled by their flesh, so they can’t please God. Never join, such people in criticising or judging your pastor or for that matter any pastor. It’s utterly wrong! God has clearly warned us in the Word: “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm” (Psalms 105:15)! Follow God’s instruction and honor your Pastor.
Prayer:
Precious Father, I thank you for guiding me through your Word to honor my pastor. I esteem my pastor very highly. I refuse to join people who are carnally minded in judging and criticising, the anointed men of God. I take every opportunity to demonstrate honor and reverence to my pastor, in Jesus Name. Amen!
