Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2)
The moment you accepted Jesus as your personal saviour your physical earthly life was cut out from you and replaced by the incorruptible and divine life of God. Outwardly, you may look the same way; but the divine exchange in your Spirit, by virtue of your life in Christ has made you a new being on the inside. You are now, from above. Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
In John 8:23, while addressing the Jews, Jesus said:”…Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23). Here, He wasn’t referring to His physical origin but His spiritual origin. He is the Word of God that came from above. Now, if you’re born again, you’re born, not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible seed, which is the Word of God that lives and abides forever (ref. 1 Peter 1:23). This means you’re born of the Word that came from above and you have the same life from above as Jesus.
Live and function in this truth everyday, that though you are in this world, you are not of this world. You are from above.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for plucking me out of this world and bringing me into the kingdom of your dear son, Jesus Christ. Im conscious of the incorruptible life in me now, and I know that I’m from above. Therefore, I set my affections on things from above. I’m not moved by this world and its elements but only by the Word of God, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen
