I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
The nation where you were born or where you reside is not something you chose or where you have found yourself by chance. It is a plan of God for you to be where you are. Your nation is your responsibility.
Our main verses are so profound, they explain us the importance of praying for the people in government and those who have authoritative position is our nations. Apostle Paul said that pray so that believers in Christ may have; “…quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty”. You must pray for your nation and its law makers so that Gospel has a free course in your nation. Then again, he says that pray so that all men be saved, because that’s what God desires( ref. 1Timothy 2:4).
Several Christians, have an approach of fleeing from the responsibility of prayer they have towards their nation. They are always looking for ways to settle outside their native country, to have a better standard of life and to have an easy land to preach the Gospel. It’s a shame if you do that. Unless God tells to you to move, never plan to make a move. Remember, no matter where you choose to go: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”( Psalms 127:1)
Your nation is your responsibility. Kneel down daily to pray for your country, and its people and those in authority. You are a nation builder in Christ.
Prayer:
Dear Father, thank you for committing my nation in my hands. I pray diligently for my nation, its people and its government so that peace, and glory of the Lord be established in my nation, in Jesus mighty Name. Amen!
