You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; (Ephesians 4:22-23)
Your attitude as a Christian is vital in your walk of faith. Your attitude towards things of God and that of the world, should be consistent to God’s Word.
There are different aspects to your attitude. The first is your attitude towards God; your attitude towards God should be that of complete trust and submission(ref.Jeremiah 17:5). Next is your attitude towards the study of God’s Word. You must give yourself wholly to His Word and not lean to your own understanding(ref. Proverbs 3:5). Then, comes your attitude towards the Church. You must always have an attitude of service, and the right attitude to learn the things you are taught in the Church (ref. Acts 2:42-47). Last but not the least, is your attitude towards the world. You must know that, as a Christian you are in the world, but not of the world. The things of this world are not for you to engage in, but for you to rule over and subdue. Have the attitude of a victor towards the elements of this world( ref. Matthew 5:14-16).
Check yourself and your attitude. Let it not be influenced by the factors of this world or by the thoughts from devil. Have the right attitude as a Christian, it will place you ahead in life. Bible is replete with examples of people who lost on their divine calling because of their wrong attitude. While, it is also replete with examples of great heroes of faith who through right attitude of faith, received great rewards and pleased the Lord. You have to choose where your want your attitude to lead you.
Prayer:
Precious Father, I thank you for teaching me the importance of attitude. I refuse to be moved by the elements of this world. I’m rooted in your word, thus, I have the right attitude of faith and victory in Christ, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
