Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Matthew 26:41)

Do you know it’s possible for you to be praying, while your mind is wandering somewhere away. Your lips, hands or eyes may be involved in prayer while, your mind might be occupied in various thoughts which have nothing to do with your prayer topic. Have you ever experienced that? This is the reason many of God’s children don’t receive desired result through prayer, despite praying for hours and days.

It’s important to keep your mind in check when you pray. It’s a deliberate exercise. When you pray, make a conscious effort to keep your mind focused on the subject, of the prayer. Create images in your mind of your desired result, through faith. Refuse to let your mind wander away. When your mind is full of distractions, you are unable to concentrate and hear what God has to say, and thus miss receiving from God.

At a particular time, the prophet Isaiah spoke God’s mind to King Hezekiah that he should put his house in order because he was going to die. This prophecy of course came to the king with a note of finality, but the bible says King Hezekiah, “…turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD…’’ (2 kings 20:2). Turning his face to the wall signifies shutting out all distractions because he wanted to alter the course of events. That’s what you do to keep your mind away from wandering when you pray. Shut out on all distractions, refuse to think about anything else, and most importantly refuse to worry. Such prayers make tremendous power available.

Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank you for teaching me to keep my mind stayed on you. I refuse to allow any distraction as I pray. I focus all my strength and energies on the Lord in prayer, and make tremendous power available to effect changes, in Jesus Name. Amen!
