Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. (Jonah 1:1-2)
Your faithfulness towards God’s voice decides the course of your life. Your faithfulness to His voice is able to alter your destiny and through you the destiny of others as well. God is gracious and not forceful, however His calling is without reproach (Ref. Romans 11:29).
Let’s see the example of Jonah. Jonah was commanded by God to go to Nineveh. But, Jonah didn’t want to go there and went against God’s voice. As a consequence he was caught up in the belly of the great fish, upon Jonah’s repentance, God’s voice came to the fish and it vomited Jonah at the very shore of Nineveh. Jonah 2:10 says; “ And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.” Notice the Bible says, God spoke to the fish. His voice is obeyed by all creation. Finally, when Jonah walked in faithfulness, the city of Nineveh was saved from destruction.
Are you faithful to His voice? Can God count on you to save the world? Do you respond to His voice with zeal and fervour? These are certain questions you need to ask yourself.
Remember your faithfulness is not only demanded by God but it’s a necessity for your own glorious life.
Prayer:
Precious Father, I’m thankful for your Word that corrects me and makes me great. I’m forever faithful to your voice and command. I give myself wholly to you. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
