But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
(James 3:17 KJV)
Wisdom is the application of God’s knowledge, which causes you to choose right and makes you understand and do the will of God. Christ has been made unto you wisdom (ref. 1 Corinthians 1:30). Through Christ, God has engraved wisdom into your spirit. However, there are different levels of wisdom in which a child of God functions.
The Greek word for wisdom in our main verse is Sophia. Sophia is theoretical wisdom and insight into reality; it’s the collective understanding of things. There is another level of wisdom called Sunesis. Sunesis is critical wisdom; that is, mental or analytical knowledge — the ability to understand concepts and see relationships between them. Then comes the wisdom with which God functions Himself and has granted us, His children, to have and function in as well — the Phronesis, or wisdom of God. Phronesis is practical wisdom; it’s a force that makes you do and say the right things before you even think.
You have been given this wisdom to establish God’s righteousness in this world. You don’t need to find any other source to get wisdom. Channel this wisdom from within you into your world. It will establish you and those you touch with the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Dear Father, thank You for the gift of wisdom. I function with the wisdom deposited in my spirit, and I reign in my world. I’m yielded to Your Word, and therefore take full advantage of Your inherent wisdom, which so powerfully works in me to do all things, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
