A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire (Matthew 7:18-19 )

Bearing fruit in the Christian life is very important. As God’s children, our Heavenly Father expects us to bear fruit. Being fruitful is a sign of maturity. Unless we begin bearing fruit, we have not yet started living our lives purposefully.

What is fruit? In this context, “fruit” refers to results. It begins with your own life. The Bible shows in Galatians 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are some of the fruits that are demonstrated from within you as you mature. However, fruit is not limited to just these attributes. Fruit also refers to your contribution to the work of the ministry in expanding the kingdom of God.

How many souls have you won? How many disciples have you made? How many lives have you touched? Have you sorted out your health and finances? Has your attitude towards life changed? Are you responsible? Are you dependable? All these factors determine how fruitful you are.

You cannot bear fruit carnally or just with your physical efforts. Every fruit that is born through the Holy Spirit is what counts in heaven. Even Jesus had to be anointed by the Holy Spirit, and through the Spirit, He presented Himself as a sacrifice. Focus on spending time with the Spirit. Dedicate quality time to praying in tongues each day. Quality time in prayer opens your spirit through the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God Himself will give you direction to set your goals. There is a goal for now, and there is a greater goal ahead. The Word of God must be in you to help you discern the voice of the Spirit. In other words, you ought to live your life spiritually.

Jesus has already chosen you and ordained you to bear fruit. All you need to do is decide and move in the right direction. Greatness is in you, and His Spirit is in you.

Prayer
Father, I thank You that You chose me in Christ Jesus and ordained me to bear fruit. I decide and choose to be fruitful. I declare that I am your faithful child. I yield myself to the Holy Spirit and receive Your light. I open myself to receive direction and choose to walk in Your perfect will. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
