I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—For kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
(1 Timothy 2:1-2 NIV)
Today is a very significant day for our country, and we must pray. In Christ, you are considered His body. Christ lives in you, and through your presence on earth. He functions through you. God fulfills His dreams and plans on earth through His children. Knowing this, it is essential that you pray. Praying for our country is so important. It is not just a formality or a tradition we follow when we gather together; rather, it has great significance. Every time we come together and pray, we are generating spiritual power to bring about change in our circumstances and surroundings. Isn’t it exciting that God has involved you in bringing about positive change and transforming things on earth?
When I talk about praying for our country, it means we must pray for our leaders, that God’s wisdom guides them to make the right decisions. We must pray that the negative influences of the devil are broken from their minds. Those in authority may not fully understand this. They might think they are doing what seems right, but often, there are spiritual influences at work that affect them. Many make disastrous decisions simply because it seems right to them, unaware that they are being influenced by demons and the devil.
The exact opposite happens when the children of God come together and pray. Praying for our country is not just a one-time event. We should do it every day; however, on special occasions like today, we must come together and pray for our country. Our prayers influence the spirit of our nation. When righteous men and women come together in prayer, peace is established. The spirit of hatred is cast out, and love, prosperity, and unity are firmly established. As we pray together, we must pray against any calamity planned by the devil—whether natural disasters, fatal accidents, or financial crises. We must also pray against the spirit of corruption.
A lot is established when you pray like this. Angels are dispatched to take control over your surroundings. Remember, the goodness of God and the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ prosper more when there is peace and prosperity in the land. The hearts of the people are open to receive God’s love and mercy, and the ground becomes fertile with love and understanding.
In Christ, you have been given a priestly ministry of prayer. Do it today with all your heart and with quality time. Oh, what a privilege!
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for my country. Thank You for the blessing of freedom and democracy. Thank You for this beautiful land and it’s beautiful people. I pray for everyone, especially those in positions of authority, that Your wisdom and protective hand would guide them. I dedicate this time to prayer today, and I thank You that Your goodness is being established on earth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
