Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Matthew 17:21)

Sometimes just praying about a matter is not enough. We need to add fasting with our prayer. Fasting demonstrates seriousness on our part. One thing that we must understand is that fasting is added to prayer, means prayer is the primary thing. Prayer always comes before fasting in the Scriptures.

Many people fast without praying, which is clearly a waste of time and effort. The emphasis should be on praying. It’s a call to prayer, and because you’re praying, you’re consciously staying away from eating. The fast is on, because you’re praying, not because you’re not eating.

When you pray and fast, don’t involve yourself in irrelevant daily chores or activities. Many people do that and neglect prayer, so they don’t feel the hunger until it’s time to break the fast, no; it’s not the right way. When you fast spend time mostly praying and then spend time studying the scriptures and other Christian material. As far as possible keep your devices aside. Possibly, put off your phone or turn off the network; you don’t need any distraction. Give yourself wholly to prayer and fasting whenever you do it. You will see how massively it impacts your life and all that surrounds you.

Prayer:
Thank you Father, for the privilege to pray and fast. As I fast I receive divine guidance and wisdom and strength. I rightly attune my Spirit to hear your voice, through prayer and fasting, making impact in my world by establishing your will. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
