And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities (Isaiah 64:7)
In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah revealed a powerful spiritual secret—that a person can stir himself to take hold of God. Though the context then was different, the principle remains true. In the light of the new creation, this is not just a possibility but an expectation from God.
Through Christ, the Holy Spirit has deposited God’s power in us. That power doesn’t just operate automatically—it must be activated. Paul reminded Timothy, “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands” (2 Timothy 1:6). This stirring is an intentional act of faith.
How do you stir yourself up? It begins with your mind. Your mind is a tool—you can choose to set it on God or on distractions. When you focus your thoughts on Him, spend time in prayer, meditate on the Word, and pray in the Spirit, you awaken and activate the power within you.
This is God’s expectation for His children—that we don’t let the divine treasure in us lie dormant, but stir it up and walk in the fullness of His power.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You for the gift of Your Spirit within me. I choose to stir up myself and take hold of Your power at work in me. I set my mind on You, and as I pray and meditate on Your Word, I activate the fullness of Your grace and power in my life. Thank You for trusting me with this divine ability. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
