Let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation… (Hebrews 6:1)

Christmas marks the beginning of the story of Jesus on earth — but it also marks the journey of every believer into spiritual maturity. God did not call us to remain spiritual infants. Growth is His will for every child of God. Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit so that we would learn, develop and become strong in understanding, conviction and love.

A good leader is first a learner. A growing Christian is one who remains teachable before the Spirit. The Holy Ghost never stops teaching, so we must never stop learning. Christmas reminds us that God came near not only to save us, but to disciple us — to make us mature sons and daughters who reflect His excellence.

As you celebrate the season, be determined to grow in Christ. Add to your faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. When these things abound in you, Scripture declares you will never be barren nor unfruitful (ref. 2Peter 1:5-8). A fruitful life is the result of spiritual maturity.

Prayer:
Dear Father, thank You for leading me into spiritual growth and maturity in Christ Jesus. Thank You for the continual teaching and guidance of the Holy Spirit in my life. I grow every day in love, knowledge and excellence. I refuse stagnation — I rise to higher realms of maturity in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
