For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself (John 5:26).
The Bible reveals a profound truth about the life we have received in Christ Jesus. Just as the Father has life in Himself, He has given the Son to have life in Himself—and in Christ, that very life and nature of God has been imparted to us. When you were born again by the Spirit of God, the divine life was implanted into your spirit.
The statement “life in Himself” shows us that God is not dependent on any external source for His existence, sustenance, or functioning. He is self-sustaining, self-sufficient, and independent. This same principle now applies to your life in Christ. You are not designed to live dependent on external factors, circumstances, or conditions to define the quality or outcome of your life.
Life becomes complicated when a believer begins to think as though everything depends on what is happening around them. The enemy attempts to deceive many into believing that peace, joy, progress, faithfulness, and success are dependent on people, systems, environments, or favorable situations. This is a lie. Scripture shows us that the life you carry is divine, and that life operates independent of circumstances (ref. John 1:4).
Refuse to accept any argument of the devil that suggests your life is controlled by external conditions. Meditate on this divine reality: God has given you a life that is not subject to circumstances, but one that has authority over circumstances. You are not sustained by what happens outside you; you are sustained by the life of God within you. That life gives you power to dictate, to overcome, and to reign.
As you grow in this consciousness, you will stop reacting to situations and start governing them. This is the independence of your life in Christ.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You for the divine life You have given me in Christ Jesus. I acknowledge that my life is not dependent on circumstances, people, or external conditions. I refuse every lie of the enemy that suggests otherwise. I receive and walk in the consciousness that I carry Your life within me—a life that is independent, self-sustaining, and victorious. I declare that I have authority over circumstances and not the other way around. I live from the inside out, manifesting Your life, power, and dominion every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
