But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age… who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5:14)
One of the clear signs of spiritual maturity is discernment—the ability to recognize and distinguish what is truly from God and what is not. As you grow in Christ, you must not remain unaware of the workings of the enemy. There are influences, thoughts, and directions that may appear normal but, if not discerned correctly, can lead you away from God’s plan.
Sometimes, the very things meant for your promotion are the things the enemy tries to interrupt. Wrong thoughts, distractions, and unnecessary decisions can be planted subtly to delay your progress. This is why discernment is not optional—it is essential. Without it, a person may move forward in some areas but unknowingly take steps backward in others.
The one who is relevant in the Kingdom of God is a target of the devil for such attacks. But God has not left you without help. He has given you His Spirit so you can discern, respond, and overcome. If you notice, you will see that the days you make wrong decisions are the days you have not taken time to fill yourself with the Spirit. So make sure you fill yourself with the Spirit daily by: “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” (Ephesians 5:19–21)
So make it a priority to pray and present yourself as a living sacrifice. As you do, your spirit becomes sensitive, your discernment becomes sharp, and you will walk in accuracy and victory always. Glory!!
Prayer:
Precious Father, I thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I receive grace to grow in discernment and maturity. My spiritual senses are exercised to recognize and overcome every work of the enemy. I refuse wrong thoughts and distractions, and I walk in wisdom and accuracy. I fill myself with the Spirit daily, and I manifest Your will in all I do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
