[In as much as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ… (2 Corinthians 10:5 AMP)
Your thoughts shape the direction of your life. What occupies your mind eventually influences your words, and your words influence what you experience. That’s why it is so important that your thinking agrees with God’s Word and His purpose for you. Many people may hear the same truth, yet produce different results, because the condition of their thinking affects how they receive and act on the Word.
This is why you must be intentional with your thoughts. Don’t permit ideas that contradict God’s truth to settle in your mind. Take them captive. Refuse thoughts of fear, defeat, limitation, or doubt, and replace them with what God has said about you. Real transformation often begins with a renewed way of thinking.
And this takes consistency. Sometimes renewing your mind is a deliberate discipline, especially in the beginning. But don’t struggle with wrong thoughts—replace them. Fill your mind with truth. If you occupy your thoughts with what is good, pure, and full of faith, there is no room left for what is contrary. This is how we overcome evil—with good.
So guard your thought life. Train your mind in the Word. Let your thoughts be aligned with Christ, because the direction of your thoughts will help determine the direction of your life. Glory!
Confession:
In Jesus’ Name, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—I think on these things. I bring every thought captive into the obedience of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
