But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

Understanding the character of the Holy Spirit is essential for every child of God. Many people expect God to speak through dramatic signs, a loud voice from heaven or some extraordinary manifestation. While God can speak in remarkable ways, that is not His usual pattern for those in whom the Holy Spirit dwells.

The Holy Spirit lives within you, and He often speaks through gentle promptings, convictions and reminders. That inward thought urging you to pray, reminding you of God’s Word or bringing to your remembrance an instruction you have received may very well be the Holy Spirit ministering to you. He faithfully teaches, guides and directs you from within.

Therefore, do not ignore those holy promptings. As you respond to them, you become increasingly sensitive to His voice. The more you acknowledge His ministry, the more clearly you will recognize His leading in your daily life.

Prayer

Dear Father, I thank You for the Holy Spirit who lives in me and continually teaches me. My heart is sensitive to His voice, and I respond quickly to His promptings. I walk in obedience, wisdom and discernment as He faithfully leads me every day, in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
