And he that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. (Proverbs 17:27)

Excellence has a lot to do with how you see. Great people are able to perceive things that others may overlook. They don’t merely look at what is immediately before them; they are able to see possibilities, understand situations deeply, and recognise what needs to be done.

Your perception is connected to what is happening within your spirit. The way you think, the things you notice, and the way you interpret situations are all influenced by what you have allowed to shape your mind and character.

This is why the Word of God must continually influence your thinking. As your mind is renewed, your perception becomes more refined. You begin to notice things you previously ignored. You become more sensitive to what is right, what needs correction, and what can be improved.

Even something as simple as picking up litter when you see it can reveal something about your character. You may think you are only cleaning the physical environment, but you are also training yourself to notice what needs to be corrected and to take responsibility for it.

Don’t wait for someone else to tell you what needs to be done. Develop the ability to see. Look around you. Pay attention. Ask yourself what can be improved and how you can contribute. This is part of developing an excellent spirit. As you grow spiritually and mentally, let your perception become broader and sharper.

Prayer:

Precious Father, I thank You for giving me understanding and the ability to perceive beyond what is immediately visible. I am grateful for Your Word that renews my mind and develops my understanding. I declare that my perception is becoming sharper and my spirit is being conditioned for excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
