And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel… (Daniel 1:19)
Excellence doesn’t happen by accident. You have to condition yourself for it. Just because you are born again and have the Holy Spirit in you does not mean you should stop developing your character. The life of God in you must find expression through the way you think, speak, work, and conduct yourself.
Daniel had an excellent spirit, and that excellence could be seen in his knowledge, understanding, wisdom, integrity, and ability to handle difficult situations. His excellence was not hidden inside him; it became evident through his life.
Begin to make deliberate decisions about the kind of person you want to become. Choose to think better. Choose to learn more. Choose to develop your abilities. Choose to become more disciplined. Choose to improve your attitude. Choose to speak with wisdom. These choices gradually condition your spirit and shape your character.
Don’t be satisfied with simply having potential. Potential must be developed. There is more you can learn, more you can accomplish, and more value you can bring to the people around you. Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep improving.
The Holy Spirit is in you, and the Word of God is available to train you. Yield yourself to both. Allow the Word to correct you, instruct you, and renew your mind. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into greater wisdom and maturity.
Make excellence a conscious pursuit. Condition your spirit until excellence becomes part of your character and not merely something you admire in other people. Let your life become evidence of the excellent Spirit at work in you.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You for the Holy Spirit who lives in me and for Your Word that continually trains and transforms me. I consciously pursue excellence and become a person of immense value, bringing Glory to Your matchless Name, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
