And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. (Exodus 31:2)
Your calling, gifts, abilities, and opportunities are valuable, but your character is what determines how you will carry them. A person can have great potential and still fail to reach the height that was possible for them because of poor character. Reuben had position, strength, and potential, yet instability prevented him from excelling as he could have.
Never become so focused on what has been spoken about your future that you neglect the person you are becoming today. No matter what words have been spoken over your life, character matters. Your decisions, habits, discipline, integrity, and consistency will affect how effectively you fulfil what God has entrusted to you. What God places in your hands must be carried by a life that has been properly developed.
This is why excellence must become more than an aspiration. It must become a way of life. Let your private life agree with your public life. Let your conduct agree with your confession. Let your spiritual life be consistent, not occasional. Keep growing in wisdom, knowledge, discipline, humility, love, and integrity. Build a character strong enough to sustain the assignment God has given you.
Make a decision today to keep learning. Keep growing. Keep renewing your mind with the Word of God. Keep yielding to the Holy Spirit. Keep choosing what is right, even when nobody is watching. Let your life become a lasting testimony of the excellence of Christ in you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for every gift, calling, opportunity, and ability You have placed in my life. I am grateful for the grace to become stable, consistent, disciplined, wise, and dependable. I consciously choose to walk in excellence, and I thank You for making my life a reflection of Christ and a testimony to Your matchless Name, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
