And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour. (Joshua 6:2)

Before Joshua and all of Israel physically possessed Jericho, God told Joshua to see it differently. The walls were still standing. The city was still occupied. The natural evidence had not yet changed. Yet God spoke from the standpoint of what He had determined to accomplish.
Joshua could have looked at the walls and concluded that the city was inaccessible. Instead, he received God’s perspective and proceeded according to divine instruction.

Sometimes the greatest battle is not the obstacle in front of you but the picture you carry inside you. If your mind continually sees defeat, you may approach every opportunity with fear. But when your heart is established in God’s Word, you can face intimidating circumstances with confidence and obedience.

See what God has revealed. Then act according to His instructions. Faith does not merely stare at a desired outcome; it moves in obedience toward it. Joshua saw according to God’s Word and then followed the strategy God gave him and thus received Jericho.

Prayer:

Glorious Father, I thank You for teaching me to see circumstances through Your Word rather than through fear. I am grateful for the wisdom to recognise what You have made available and the courage to follow Your instructions, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
