And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. (Mark 11:22)
When the Lord Jesus taught about moving a mountain through faith, He spoke about a particular mountain. This teaches us the importance of being definite in our expectations. Faith should not remain a vague desire for something to improve. We must understand what we are believing God for and allow His Word to guide that expectation.
For example, if you are trusting God to improve your finances, examine your present situation and establish a clear, responsible goal. If you desire to grow in your ministry, identify the areas in which growth is needed and determine what you are working toward. Specificity helps you pray with understanding, recognise the voice of God concerning the matter, and plan wisely.
The prayer of faith is not merely a discussion about how difficult a situation is. It brings your attention to what God has said and how you should respond. Rather than continually describing the size of the mountain, direct your attention to God’s Word, pray in accordance with it, and take the appropriate steps of faith.
When your desire is clear and your faith is grounded in His Word, you can pray purposefully and move forward with confidence knowing that victory is yours.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word, which gives direction to my faith. Thank You for helping me understand my desires clearly and bring them before You with wisdom. My expectations are guided by Your Word, and I walk forward in faith and understanding, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
