Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
The day you got born again, you were made a new creation, a new specie of being. You don’t have a past. The human person who had a past before you met Jesus, has ceased to be, you are now all new.
Many people suffer and struggle in life because they are not able to get over their past despite being born again. If your past doesn’t inspire you, dump it.
One of the very important lessons to learn from the Apostle Paul is his attitude to memories of the past; he said: “…this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind…”(Philippians 3:13). Before he became a Christian and then an apostle; he was actually a persecutor of Christians. He persecuted, imprisoned and even consented to the murder of believers. He was injurious to the Church. Hence, if there was anyone who fits to be traumatized by his past, it should be him! But he never allowed himself to be limited or hindered by the memories of his past. He had come to realize that the memories of the past weren’t worth holding onto compared to the great future he had in God.
This should be your attitude towards your past. Do exactly what Paul did: forget the past and press towards the glorious future in Christ. Your past doesn’t matter to God, so focus on your future with God in Christ Jesus.
Prayer:
Precious Father, I thank you for your great love. Thank you for erasing my past completely and making me a brand new creation in Christ. I dump my past and focus on the great and bright future I have in Christ Jesus. Amen!
