Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Proverbs 18:21)
Your future is not meant to be shaped by coincidences or surrounding circumstances. God has given you a powerful tool—your spirit—to chart the course of your life. Life is spiritual, and it is vital that we live it by the Spirit.
Previously, we learned the importance of surrounding ourselves with the right environment and exposing our minds to right thinking. The Bible teaches, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34, KJV). This means what you constantly fill your heart with will eventually find its way into your speech—and your words matter greatly.
Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Our confession—our speaking—plays a key role in the manifestation of God’s promises in our lives. James 3:2 also tells us, “If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” In other words, if a person can control his speech, he can manage every other area of life.
What am I trying to bring to your attention today? That you have the God-given ability to take control of your future through the power of your words. There will be times when you must deliberately sit down and speak over your future. Speak what God has said about you. Prophesy over your life. Don’t just hope for change—declare it.
You don’t have to wait for life to happen to you. Through faith-filled words, you can fix your future.
Prayer:
Dear Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for loving me and giving me life in the Spirit. In Christ, I am born of You and seated at Your right hand with Jesus. Thank You for empowering me to take control of my future. As I speak life over my future, I declare that it is secure and advancing according to Your Word. My path is moving upward and forward. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
