For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (Galatians 5:17).
The ability to learn and upgrade yourself is so important. From this portion of scripture, we understand that there are things you desire to do, but the flesh will always try to stop you. The Bible makes it clear that the flesh is always contrary to the Spirit. However, you must know this truth—you are a spirit, not flesh. Your spirit lives in your body, but you own your body, and you have been given authority by God to dictate and exercise dominion over it.
When you pray in tongues, you activate the power that is within your spirit, which goes beyond natural obstructions. At times, when you begin to pray in tongues, you may not feel like praying at all. You may find yourself praying only a little. But remember—those feelings and limitations are simply the resistance of the flesh. They do not define you. The moment you choose to persist and set yourself on a spiritual course, the flesh loses its grip.
Your victory begins with recognizing who you truly are. You are a spirit being, recreated in Christ Jesus, filled with the life of God. The more you yield to the Spirit and exercise your dominion through prayer, especially in tongues, the more you silence the voice of the flesh. Refuse to let feelings or physical tiredness dictate your spiritual growth.
Go and pray in tongues. As you do, you are building your spirit, gaining mastery over your body, and positioning yourself to walk in the fullness of God’s will.
Prayer:
Father, I thank you for making me a spirit being, recreated in Christ Jesus. I declare that I have dominion over my body and every carnal desire. As I pray in tongues, I rise above every limitation, I strengthen my spirit, and I walk in victory every day, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
