Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God (Matthew 4:7).
The life of Lord Jesus shows us clearly how to deal with the devil. When the devil tempted Him in the wilderness, he tried to persuade Lord Jesus to act in ways that were contrary to the Word of God. At one point he even offered Him the kingdoms of the world in an attempt to divert Him from God’s plan. Yet every time the devil presented an argument, Lord Jesus answered him with the Word of God. He did not argue with emotions, opinions, or human reasoning—He responded with Scripture. Because of this, the devil eventually left Him after exhausting his attempts.
This example is extremely important for believers. The enemy often approaches through thoughts, suggestions, and emotional pressure. He may try to convince you that you are weak, discouraged, or defeated. But you must remember who you are in Christ. You are a child of God, blessed with every spiritual blessing, and the Spirit of God lives within you (ref. Ephesians 1:3).
When such thoughts arise, do what Lord Jesus did—counter them immediately with the Word of God. If discouragement comes, speak God’s promises. If anger is provoked, speak God’s wisdom. If the enemy suggests failure, declare your victory in Christ. The Word of God is your authority.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I declare that I stand firmly on Your Word and refuse every argument of the devil. I recognize every thought that contradicts Your truth, and I counter it immediately with Your Word. I declare that I am blessed in Christ, strengthened by Your Spirit, and established in truth. I speak Your Word boldly, and every lie of the enemy loses its influence over my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
