Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7)

David taught Solomon that wisdom was more important than wealth, long life, or anything else he could possess. When Solomon was given the opportunity to ask God for anything, he asked for wisdom. He understood that if he had wisdom, he would have the ability to handle everything else properly.

Wisdom is not merely knowing many things. It is knowing how to apply knowledge correctly. A person may have information and still make poor decisions, but wisdom gives you the ability to judge situations correctly and respond appropriately.

This is why you must deliberately pursue wisdom. Don’t only ask God to bless you; ask Him to give you the wisdom to handle what He has already placed in your hands. Don’t only desire greater opportunities; develop the wisdom required to manage them.

The Word of God is a great source of wisdom. As you study it, meditate on it, and practise what it teaches, your understanding is developed. The Holy Spirit also helps you to perceive things beyond what your natural understanding can see.

An excellent Christian is not simply someone who knows many Scriptures or speaks spiritual words. An excellent Christian knows how to apply the Word of God to everyday life. Wisdom should influence your decisions, relationships, speech, work, and conduct. Begin today to value wisdom. Make it a priority in your life.

Prayer:

Glorious Father, I thank You for the wisdom available to me through Your Word and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. I am grateful for the understanding You give me to navigate every area of my life. I consciously pursue wisdom and allow it to influence my decisions, words, relationships, and conduct, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
