As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him. (Colossians 2:6)
Receiving Christ is the beginning, not the end, of your journey as a believer. You have received Him, and now you must walk in Him. There is a life to live after salvation. Christianity is not simply about having a testimony of what God did for you in the past. It is about allowing the life of Christ to be expressed through you every day.
Sometimes people only think about Christianity in terms of what God can do for them. They pray when they are sick, seek God when they need provision, and call upon Him when they are facing trouble. Of course, God cares about every area of our lives, but Christianity is much greater than receiving answers to prayer. Christ did not save you merely so that you could escape problems. He saved you so that you could live for Him.
There is a character that must be developed in the Christian life. There are attitudes we must cultivate, words we must learn to speak, behaviours we must put away, and virtues we must demonstrate. Love must become evident in us. Kindness must become evident in us. Integrity must become evident in us. Patience, humility, self-control, forgiveness, generosity, and faithfulness must increasingly become visible in our lives.
The real Christian life is lived beyond the church service. Excellence in Christian life means allowing Christ to influence every part of who you are.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the new life I have received in Christ. Thank You that I have been called not merely to believe in Lord Jesus but to walk in Him. Thank You for Your Word that teaches me how to live. My life belongs to You, and I am growing daily in excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
