The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (Psalm 23:1)
What a powerful revelation David had about who God is—he did not call God merely his supplier, but his Shepherd. A shepherd doesn’t just provide; he leads, feeds, protects, and cares for the sheep every moment of the day. David understood that with God as his Shepherd, there would be no lack or worry in his life.
Today, many things can cause people to be anxious, but when you meditate on this truth—that God is your Shepherd— it will change the way you think, speak, and live. Your life becomes easier when your heart is established in this truth.
In the New Covenant, this reality is even greater. You are not just in a covenant; you are born of God. His Spirit dwells in you fully. The Bible says, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father” (Romans 8:15).
You are not hoping for God’s help—you have Him living in you. The Spirit of your Father is with you, leading you, guiding you, and ensuring you do not want. No wonder Paul said, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).
Live every day conscious of this truth: God is your Shepherd, your Father, your only Source—and in Him, you will never lack.
Prayer:
Dear Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You that You are my Father. You are the One who loves me and takes care of me. I incline my ears to receive Your guidance, and I live worry-free. I do what You want me to do, and I am assured that Your faithfulness is true and my life is secure. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
