Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1, KJV)

Faith has a foundation. Faith is not a leap into uncertainty based on nothing; it rests on the truth and faithfulness of God. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as the substance of what is hoped for and the evidence of what is not seen. This means that faith gives us confidence concerning what God has revealed, even when the physical manifestation is not yet visible.

For a believer, the Word of God is a reliable foundation for faith. When God has spoken in Scripture, we can build our confidence on what He has revealed. As we pray and meditate on His Word, the Holy Spirit strengthens our understanding and conviction. At times, a particular Scripture may become especially meaningful as we recognise how it applies to our situation.

When you become convinced of what God’s Word says, do not abandon that truth simply because circumstances have not changed immediately. Continue to meditate on the Scripture, speak in agreement with it, and take the steps that are consistent with it. Faith is not passive waiting; it involves a continuing response to God’s truth.

At the same time, distinguish the authority of Scripture from personal feelings or impressions. Not every strong thought or inner desire is a message from God, and personal impressions must never contradict His Word. Let Scripture remain your foundation as you pray, discern, and act. When your faith rests on the only sound foundation, you can remain steady without being controlled by changing circumstances.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the certainty and reliability of Your Word. Thank You for giving me a firm foundation on which I build my faith. I remain rooted in Scripture, steadfast in faith, and wise in my responses as I walk with You, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
