He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside… (Isaiah 44:20)

Not everything that feeds your mind is good for your spirit. Isaiah describes a person who feeds on ashes—a picture of someone filling himself with things that have no life, no strength, and no truth. Today, ashes can come in many forms: discouraging news, ungodly advice, fearful conversations, negative thinking, or anything that draws your heart away from God’s Word.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to become discouraged after constantly listening to negative voices? Yet the opposite is also true. When you consistently feed on the Word of God, your faith rises, hope restores, and your confidence in God grows stronger. Whatever you continually feed upon will eventually influence your outlook and your actions.

God has not called us to live on the leftovers of fear and unbelief. He has prepared something far better for His children. His Word brings life, wisdom, peace, and strength. Instead of allowing your heart to be filled with anxiety, choose to fill it with the truths that God has spoken concerning your life.

Today, make a fresh decision to guard what enters your heart. Feed daily on the Word of God, and you will discover that your spirit becomes stronger, your mind becomes clearer, and your life becomes increasingly fruitful.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for nourishing my life with Your living Word. Thank You that I refuse every voice that opposes Your truth. My heart is filled with faith, my mind is filled with peace, and my life is strengthened as I continually meditate on Your Word. Thank You for leading me in paths of life every day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
