But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psalm 1:2)
One of the greatest habits you can ever develop is delighting yourself in the Word of God. Notice that in our main verse the psalmist didn’t say we should read the Word occasionally or only when we face difficulties. He said we should meditate on it day and night. Why? Because what continually occupies your heart will ultimately direct your life.
Many people spend hours thinking about their problems but only a few minutes thinking about God’s Word. Imagine what would happen if we reversed that. Instead of replaying anxious thoughts, begin rehearsing what God has said. Instead of dwelling on bad reports, meditate on His truth. The more your heart delights in His Word, the stronger your faith becomes and the more peace begins to rule your life.
The Bible compares such a person to a tree planted by rivers of water (ref. Psalm 1:3). A tree planted beside a constant source of water does not panic when the weather changes. Its roots continue drawing nourishment regardless of the season. Likewise, when your life is rooted in the Word of God, you remain fruitful even when circumstances become difficult. Others may be discouraged, but you continue standing because your strength comes from God’s unfailing Word.
Let the Word of God become your daily delight. Study it with expectation, meditate on it with joy, and speak it with confidence. As you do, your life will continually bear fruit, your faith will remain vibrant, and everything you do according to His will will prosper.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You for the priceless treasure of Your Word. Thank You because my delight is in Your truth, and my heart is continually strengthened as I meditate on it day and night. I rejoice that my life is firmly planted in You, bringing forth fruit in every season. Thank You because Your Word is producing lasting success, stability, and joy in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
