Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6)
There are many things people pursue in life. Some seek success, others seek security, recognition, or possessions. Yet the Lord Jesus taught that the truly blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness. This kind of desire goes beyond wanting God’s blessings; it is a desire to know His heart, walk in His ways, and occupy His position concerning every situation.
Righteousness is more than right conduct. It is aligning yourself with God’s perspective and allowing His will to become your priority. When a believer walks outside of God’s position, fear and uncertainty often gain influence. But when you remain aligned with Him, confidence and peace fill your spirit because you know you are standing where He wants you to stand.
Many prayers are focused only on personal needs. While God certainly cares about those needs, He invites us to seek His Kingdom first. As your hunger for righteousness grows, your prayers become more purposeful. You stop praying from position of panic and begin praying from position of faith, making definite requests with thanksgiving and confidence in His faithfulness.
Cultivate a desire for God’s righteousness every day. As you do, you will discover that He not only fills your spirit but also brings order, peace, and blessing into every area of your life.
Prayer:
Precious Father, I thank you for teaching me to create in me a greater hunger for Your righteousness. I affirm that my heart desires Your will above every personal ambition. I seek first Your Kingdom and trust You to order every part of my life according to Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
