And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. (Matthew 14:22)
Our main verse shows a direction Lord Jesus gave to the disciples. Lord Jesus sent His disciples ahead, and while they were on the sea, the wind became contrary. The boat was being troubled by the waves, but the storm did not cancel the destination Lord Jesus had given them. They had been instructed to go to the other side, and the presence of resistance did not change the Lord’s direction.
In life, difficulties can make us question whether we will ever reach what God has placed before us. Opposition may be real, and the journey may become uncomfortable, but we must not allow temporary resistance to determine our final expectation. God’s Word must remain the foundation of our confidence.
Faith does not mean that you will never experience pressure. It means that pressure does not have to control your response. Instead of becoming consumed by the obstacle, focus on God’s instruction, seek His wisdom, and continue taking the steps that are consistent with His Word.
The disciples saw the storm, but Lord Jesus saw them and came toward them. Your circumstances are not hidden from the Lord. Refuse to let fear become your master. Keep your heart steady, remain obedient, and remember that the presence of adversity does not mean the absence of God.
Prayer:
Dear Father, I thank You because You remain with me even when the journey becomes difficult. Thank You that opposition cannot cancel Your faithfulness. I receive the grace to remain focused on Your Word, to respond wisely under pressure, and to continue moving forward without being ruled by fear, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
